Today, Vancouver Community College hosts the taste testing and judging of the 25 short-listed new vendors for the City of Vancouver’s street food program at VCC’s Four Corners Restaurant.

This event is the final component of the selection process for the 12 new street food carts that will be added to the city’s Street Food Program for 2012.

The 25 finalists, short listed from a pool of 59 applicants, will prepare dishes for tasting by a judging panel of local chefs, nutritionists, food media and members of the public. Fifteen judges will evaluate each dish based on their preferences in relation to the other food entries and the existing street food available in Vancouver. The scoring from the taste test will be added to the total scores previously submitted by the selection panel.

The new food carts will be announced this spring.
