By Suzusan, such complex, textured fabric constructions are something that is so beautifully well suited to lighting design you just couldn’t make it any better. Any of these amazing Japanese designs would trump my paper lantern on my light any day.

These Toile de Jouy for Vancouver, by Vancouver designer Danika McDowell of Locamode, were inspired by a shirt: “My Vancouver includes the downtown Eastside.” (via Poppytalk.blogspot.com)
Toile de Jouy, btw, is “a type of printed calico with a characteristic floral, figure or landscape design on a light background, typically used for upholstery or curtains.”
